A Word From the Bench

When the van stops earning, everything else stops too.

Every Sprinter on the road is doing one of three jobs: hauling a business, hauling a family across the country, or hauling itself to the next service light. The platform is brilliant, the OM642 and OM651 will outlive the body, and the OM654 diesel and gas variants make even the new T1N feel modern. What kills Sprinters isn’t the engineering — it’s the wrong shop.

Generic diesel shops can’t talk to the SAM modules. RV repair counters won’t touch a DEF dosing valve. Dealer service-advisors quote $4,800 to refresh a turbo when the issue is a $42 boost-pressure sensor. We do this differently. XENTRY diagnostic, OEM parts catalogue, factory specifications, written quote before any wrench turns. Whether it’s a 25-van Amazon DSP fleet or a Storyteller conversion that needs to make Yellowstone by Friday — same bench, same standard.

Three Vans, One Bench

The Sprinter shows up three different ways.

Commercial workhorse. Camper conversion. Luxury executive shuttle. The chassis-side work is the same; the conversation around it isn’t. We treat each how it deserves.

01

Commercial & Fleet

Last-Mile · Delivery · Service

Amazon DSP routes, electrical contractors, mobile detailers, airport shuttle operators. Downtime is revenue. We pre-stage parts and book around your route.

  • Preventive maintenance calendars by VIN
  • Monthly invoicing & fleet pricing
  • EGR, DEF, DPF regeneration faults
  • Brake, suspension, steering on lifted chassis
  • Roadside referral network across Dade & Broward
02

Camper & Conversion

Class B · 4x4 · Custom Builds

Winnebago, Storyteller Overland, Outside Van, Sportsmobile, Hymer, and one-off custom builds. We handle the Mercedes side and the conversion-side electrical without finger-pointing.

  • Lithium house banks & B2B chargers
  • Solar charge controllers & MPPT diagnostics
  • Inverter, shore power, transfer-switch faults
  • Chassis Service A / B with conversion-aware lifts
  • Pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports
03

Executive & Limo

Black Car · VIP Transport · Hotel

Brickell limo operators, hotel concierge fleets, executive transport. The interior trim and cabin tech demand a different conversation than a delivery van — and a faster turnaround.

  • MBUX, sound, climate, partition glass
  • Air suspension & Airmatic on V-Class
  • Cosmetic detail coordinated with service ticket
  • Concierge pickup from Brickell to Bal Harbour
  • Discreet drop-off, no shop-floor wait
Chassis Specialities

The faults every Sprinter eventually shows.

Most aren’t catastrophic if caught early. All of them are systematic to the platform. Here’s what we look for, by engine family.

OM642 V6

2007–2018 · 3.0L Diesel
  • EGR cooler cracking
  • Intake manifold sooting
  • Glow plug failure & broken plugs
  • Oil cooler seal weep
  • Turbo actuator faults
  • Front timing cover oil leak

OM651 i4

2014–2018 · 2.1L Diesel
  • Timing chain wear
  • Injector sealing rings
  • Vacuum pump failure
  • Swirl-flap motor faults
  • DPF differential pressure sensor
  • SCR / DEF dosing module

OM654 i4

2019– · 2.0L Diesel
  • NOx sensor failures (front & rear)
  • DEF tank heater faults
  • AdBlue urea pump issues
  • Particulate filter regeneration
  • Charge-air cooler leaks
  • Software / SCN coding updates

M274 Gas

2019– · 2.0L Turbo
  • Timing chain tensioner
  • Camshaft adjuster solenoids
  • Carbon build-up on intake valves
  • Turbo wastegate rattle
  • 9G-Tronic transmission service
  • Spark plug & coil intervals
What’s Actually In It

Nine things every Sprinter visit earns.

From an oil service on a delivery 2500 to a full pre-trip on a Storyteller Mode 4x4 — the bench standard doesn’t move. This is the work, without the asterisks.

01

XENTRY Diagnostic Scan

Every module, every code, in writing before we touch a wrench. The same diagnostic tool the dealership uses.

02

OEM Fluids & Filters

MB 229.51 / 229.52 synthetic diesel oil, OEM oil and fuel filters, ATF 134 for the 7G-Tronic, MB DEF / AdBlue refill.

03

Tall-Roof Bay Clearance

We can lift a 144-inch and 170-inch tall-roof Sprinter, including roof racks and solar arrays, without dismantling your conversion.

04

DEF / AdBlue Service

NOx sensors, DEF tank heater, urea dosing module, SCR catalyst diagnosis. The work most non-Mercedes shops decline.

05

DPF Regeneration

Forced regen via XENTRY, differential pressure diagnosis, ash cleaning, replacement when justified. Written report each visit.

06

Conversion-Side Electrical

House battery banks, B2B chargers, inverters, solar MPPT, transfer switches. We chase parasitic drains down to the source.

07

Fleet Calendar & VIN File

We hold a service calendar per VIN, prep parts in advance, and book around your delivery or shuttle route. No surprise downtime.

08

Pre-Trip Inspection

Camper vans heading cross-country get a full pre-trip: tires, brakes, suspension, fluids, charging, and conversion-side load test.

09

Written Quote, Always

You see the parts, the labour, the timeline — before anything turns. No service advisor commission. No upsell quota.

Fleet Operators

Three vans or three hundred. Same bench. Same standard.

Dedicated service advisor, monthly invoicing, scheduled preventive maintenance routes, and the same XENTRY diagnostics on every chassis. We currently service delivery, last-mile, airport shuttle, and concierge fleets across Miami-Dade and Broward.

Camper & Conversion Vans

Chassis-side and conversion-side. One ticket.

Most shops draw a line at the cab. We don’t. The Mercedes side speaks XENTRY; the conversion side speaks Victron, REDARC, Renogy, Battle Born, Outback, Multiplus. We hold both languages so you don’t end up between two service desks blaming each other.

House Battery Banks

Lithium iron phosphate, AGM, gel. Load testing, balancing, BMS diagnostics.

Inverter & Shore Power

Victron Multiplus, Magnum, Xantrex. Transfer switch and shore inlet faults.

Solar & MPPT

Panel output testing, charge controller diagnosis, wiring and combiner faults.

B2B / DC-DC Chargers

REDARC, Victron Orion, Renogy. Alternator load, voltage drop, ignition wiring.

Refrigeration & HVAC

Dometic, Isotherm, Truma, Webasto, Espar. Heater, fridge, A/C diagnostics.

Roof & Body Sealing

Roof rack mounts, solar array brackets, max-air fan seals. Leak chase & recure.

Pre-Trip Coach Inspection

Brake, suspension, tire load rating, propane, freshwater, grey, black, fluids.

Cross-Country Backup

Phone support on the road. We’ve diagnosed faults from Yellowstone and Big Bend.

Your Van’s Visit

Four steps. Same day on most service tickets.

I.

Book

Call, email, or use the fleet desk. We pull the VIN, prep parts, confirm the lift slot for tall roofs.

II.

Scan

XENTRY diagnostic logs every module. Conversion-side we test bank voltage and inverter status.

III.

Service

OEM parts, master-certified hands, factory torque values. Texted updates as we go.

IV.

Deliver

Road-tested loaded and unloaded. Digital service record, written report, OBD stamp.

Common Questions

The ones we hear from every Sprinter owner.

If yours isn’t here, the phone is the fastest way. Lester or a senior tech picks up most weekdays.

Call (305) 740-3440

Yes. We service the chassis side — engine, transmission, EGR, DEF, brakes, suspension — and the conversion-side electrical: house battery, inverter, lithium banks, solar charge controllers, B2B chargers, alternators. Conversions from Winnebago, Storyteller, Outside Van, Sportsmobile, and custom builds welcome.

Yes. DEF tank heater, NOx sensors, urea dosing valve, DPF regeneration faults, EGR cooler cracking on the OM642, and the chronic intake-manifold sooting are all on the daily list. We diagnose with Mercedes XENTRY and replace with genuine OEM parts.

Yes. Fleet pricing, monthly Net-30 invoicing, dedicated service advisor, and scheduled preventive maintenance routes for fleets of three or more vans. Amazon DSP, last-mile delivery, airport shuttle, and Uber XL operators are recurring clients.

Yes. Our service bays are sized for 170-inch tall-roof Sprinters with roof racks, solar arrays, and max-air fans in place. We do not require you to strip the roof or fairing before service.

Sprinter Service A is typically 2–3 hours. Service B is most of a working day. Larger jobs (turbo, transmission, EGR cooler) receive a written timeline at quote. We can stage parts in advance for fleet vans to minimise downtime.

Yes. The pre-trip covers brakes, suspension, tire load ratings, fluids, charging, DEF, DPF status, and a conversion-side load test on the inverter and battery bank. We’ve sent vans to Alaska, Big Bend, and the Pacific Northwest with confidence.

We are an independent, master-certified shop. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act your factory warranty is protected when service is performed using genuine OEM parts and factory procedures — which is the only way we do it. We stamp the digital service book and write to the OBD records via XENTRY.
